Elmer Keith and Phillip B. Sharp created the .357 Magnum round in 1934 when bootleggers and gangsters proved their vests and cars provided great cover against the current rounds of the day. The men knew they required a cartridge capable of traveling over 1,000 feet per second, and, of course, it had to deliver rapid energy transfer. Perhaps one of Keith’s greatest contributions was the use of what is known as the Keith-style bullet, which has a flat meplat and increases mass, creating far more catastrophic wound tracks. If you love your .357 Magnum, you have Elmer Keith to thank.
This particular .357 Magnum ammunition is made by Fiocchi Munizioni, an Italian company that’s been in business since 1876. Not only are they one of the biggest and oldest ammunition factories in Italy but they have a long-standing reputation for producing top-of-the-line rounds. Fiocchi also designs and makes their own equipment; that’s how dedicated to excellence they are. Almost 150 years of experience and skill went into the production of this ammunition, and not many companies can claim that kind of longevity.
Fiocchi designed these rounds to move fast, and they certainly do. They have a muzzle velocity of 1,420 feet per second, so they’ll rush to your target with lightening speed. And they’re powerful, too, with a muzzle energy of 571 foot-pounds. These are strong rounds for strong handguns. At 142 grain they’re pretty lightweight for the cartridge, which lends to their velocity. And because they’re FMJTC rounds, they’re great for training as well as competitive matches. You get 50 rounds in this box, so you might want to order at least two.
