If you’re a high-volume shooter, odds are you spend some serious time honing your marksmanship skills. One of the most popular drills for improving your self-defense shooting skills is the Mozambique Drill, which is also called the Failure Drill. It was a Rhodesian by the name of Mike Rousseau who first realized the value of such an exercise after his experience in the Mozambican War of Independence. In a combat scenario where his assailant did not halt even after taking two rounds to center mass, Rousseau added a head shot, and, of course, the guerilla went down. He later shared his experience with Colonel Jeff Cooper, who turned it into the now-famed Mozambique Drill. A double tap to center mass followed by a head shot quickly became the gold standard of self-defense, and one you yourself should be practicing during training.
In order to practice the Mozambique Drill extensively, you need substantial amounts of ammunition. Thanks to Sellier and Bellot, you can get that ammo at reasonable prices; better yet, their ammunition is good quality. Sellier and Bellot has been in business for nearly two hundred years, and in the course of those years they’ve established their reputation for excellence in the firearms community. Their plant is located in Vlasim, Czech Republic, and all their products are manufactured according to stringent standards. They’re known for producing quality ammunition at reasonable prices and their ammo speaks for itself – in a consistent “bang,” of course.
These are heavyweight rounds at 230 grain, so they’ll deliver serious strength. As FMJ they’re best for target practice, tactical training, shooting drills such as the Mozambique Drill, and plinking. Remember FMJ doesn’t expand and tends to over-penetrate, so make sure you’ve got a solid backstop. Each round flies from the barrel of your gun with a muzzle velocity of 835 feet per second and hammers into your target with a muzzle energy of 372 foot-pounds. There are a whopping 1000 target rounds in this case of ammunition. Get your order in right away to spend serious time shooting your awesome gun.
